Setesdal, a remote
town in south central Norway, has one of Norway’s most celebrated
designs named after it. Rural Setesdal preserved a medieval-like
way of life, including a distinct dialect, dress and cuisine, right
into the 20th century. Not surprisingly, the “Setesdal”
pattern reveals a striking medieval influence, brought handsomely to
life in our sweater. A bold geometric upper torso is set off by a
deep red multi-colored, beautifully embroidered neck band and
finished with classic pewter clasps. Unmistakably Norwegian. Also
handsome as a cardigan lined with pewter clasps – see style
#631.
