Named in
tribute to the South Pole expedition of Roald Amundsen, a polar
explorer born near Oslo in 1872. Amundsen left his mark
on the “Heroic Era” as one of the most successful polar explorers
ever born. Beaten to the punch on a planned expedition to
capture the North Pole, Amundsen swiftly assembled a new, covert
plan to be first to the South Pole, and led a successful expedition
considered an incredible masterpiece of organization. On
December 14, 1911, Amundsen and four others stood at the South Pole,
a full month ahead of Captain Robert Scott. The South Pole
Expedition pullover is uniquely constructed for ultimate warmth in
cold temperatures and/or high winds, with a high, fleece-lined
drawstring collar and zippered neckline. One of our most
popular sweaters, an unmistakably Norwegian design incorporates
classic bands and borders of intricate Nordic motifs, adjacent to
complimentary fields of traditional geometric patterns, and
strikingly attractive color schemes.
